Omar Mehanna is the board chairman of Suez Cement Group, one of the largest cement producers in Egypt. The group comprises Suez Cement Co., Tourah Portland Cement Co., Helwan Cement Co., and Suez Bags Co. The group also owns other 10 affiliates operating in cement-related industries across Egypt and other Arab countries. He is also a Board Member in CI Capital Holding and he sits on the board of directors of Alexandria Tire Co. (ATCO), Egypt’s biggest tire manufacturer, a subsidiary of Pirelli.
Mehanna is the board chairman of ACE Insurance and ACE Life Insurance, which are subsidiaries of US-based ACE Group. He has over 25 years of banking experience in commercial and investment banks, as he held several key positions in local and international financial institutions. He has recently served as the deputy board chairman of Arab African International Bank (AAIB). He had earlier been the managing director of Accor Hotels, under the tourism sector.
Meanwhile, he also served in several business community organizations in Egypt. He had been the former chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (ACC) and a current member of the Council of Governors at ACC. He also serves as the board chairman of the US-Egypt Business Council and a member of the Egyptian-Italian Business Council, the Chambre de Commerce Française en Egypte (CCFE), the Egyptian Businessmen's Association and Egypt’s International Economic Forum.
For the civil community, Mehanna is a board member of The Association for the Protection of the Environment and the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA). Mehanna is also a board member of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) and the head of FEI’s committee for international affairs. He is also a member of the General Authority for Roads, Bridges & Land Transport’s general assembly (Ministry of Transport) and the Chemical & Fertilizers Export Council (Ministry of Trade & Industry). He is also the board chairman of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies.
